The first iteration of LIVE RECORD was a short-duration installation: a performance of light and music filling the concrete tunnel of Dupont Underground, nonprofit venue in Washington DC. The intimate environment walked concert-goers through experiences of both ‘the performer’ and ‘the crowd’. Flashlights revealed visitors’ multiplied shadows, as well as handwritten texts of the artist's lyrics, thoughts, and titles onto the tunnel walls. Echoes rang with humming, a tuning guitar, the sound of a crowd, and in the distance, a live concert.
LIVE RECORD explores overlaps in social roles that suggest live-music is a way of communicating, connecting, and creating collective experiences. |
